No surprise, Cat. Nobody does. It goes like this: "Oh look! It's the guy who ate census taker's liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti!! The guy who..." - "It's Anthony Hopkins, you tit. Brief and to the point".

I know almost all the names, because cinema is the drug for me. Pardon, I prefer living in a dream world than watching tedious modern life. Just a remark, because "Nobody does" is a bit exaggerated.)

For most of my years I would have answered Michael Caine, but lately I've been growing far fonder of Patrick Stewart.

Disgusting). It might be called vegeto-sosudistaya distoniya. But this is off top, let's talk about actors!) You haven't said anything of it, I'd be glad to know.

So you're a sufferer? I didn't know. Anyway, this is an English forum, it's no good to make other people feel awkward.
My favourite actors so far are Sean Connery and Anthony Hopkins. Old birds, you know. And I like Liz Hurley's tits a lot! :)

Old birds, aren't they? Oh, you're such a square! Just like me and my dawwwg.
Don't pay attention, folks, everything's fine with me. Not. Anyway. Let's get down to the subject. What do you like most about British actors? They do differ sharply from other actors, you understand.

Ah really? they do not differ much, there are good actors and bad actors in Britain, like everywhere else.
And I forgot to include in my list the one who played Lawrence of Arabia in the self-titled film.

I wonder why there are so little British/German/Italian/Ets. films on our TV now.
Back in Soviet Times they used to look for and dub the best films and show them to public.

Well, there's no good films anyway. In my opinion, all modern films are rubbish, really boring. The actors which became famous in Soviet Times are getting old. Their talent is deteriorating. I wonder why's that? I mean, why modern cinematograph is so primitive? It's almost impossible to imagine new "One flew over the cuckoo's nest", "Silence of the lambs" and the like on our telly.

Aiduza

I meant big-time British actors, not bad ones. Those actors which are quite old now. I don't know any good young actors. It's known that most famous actors, which are all old birds now, are not beefcakes really. One of the secrets of their success is their charming manner, I think. You just can't take your eyes over them. What I'm trying to say is that I'm not impressed by these days' young actors, not only British ones. Secondly, British actors (bare in mind that I mean the actors of old school) do differ from other actors, like all British do differ from anyone else in the world. So do Russians. Maybe it's just me.

In my very humble opinion, "The Silence of the Lambs" sucked big time, if you pardon my French. It was way overhyped, and nothing would make me watch this particular movie twice.

Everything is getting simpler, it seems Holiwood has stuck in doing sheer blockbusters without much sense, but it's not only about the cinema. Fast food, fast life, fast raids to relatives, and life's gone, much quicker than ever before. Suppose, I'll find myself in my 80-s much swifter than I blink my eyes. Ok, it's a pure off top. I added this just because you said the talent of the former cinema stars is deteriorating, sure, Piter O'Toole isn't that sexy now as he was in "How to steal a million"). But he is still a good actor. All of them just lack of a good scenario to play in.

but for Sean Connery it works the other way around; compare him now to the "young" James Bond,I guess most women would agree (I'm a man BTW :-)

If we're talking about Scots, I have to admit I liked Ewen McGregor before he sold out to Hollywood. Ah well, I've never had much luck with blond guys... and never gotten around to watching "Hannibal" having been disappointed by "The Silence of the Lambs". Life's just not fair.

How about this one? Not a masterpiece, mind you, but it's about guys for a change. ;)

Three blonde men are stranded on an island which is burning. In a hurry to get off the island they run to the beach. Once on the beach they find a bottle, when they rub it a genie pops out and grants them three wishes.

The first blonde guy wishes he was smart so he could get off the island. "Poof" his hair turns brown, he ties some logs together to make a raft and paddles away. The second blonde guy says, "I'm not into all of this padling stuff, make me smarter so I can get off this island". "Poof", he turns into a redheaded guy, then builds a raft and weaves a sail out of plants on the island and sails away. The third blonde guy is not impressed by all of this hard work and says to the genie "Make me even smarter so I can get off this island". "Poof" and the genie turns the blonde guy into a woman, and she walks over the bridge.

LOL; blond (women) jokes have become such a cliche, I won't even try
